On Monday, June 27, Naomi Johnston of the Center for Shelter Dogs and Alana Mahoney of Boston Animal Care and Adoption headed to Joplin MO, to continue assistance at the Joplin Humane Society’s emergency shelter in Joplin, Missouri. Approximately two-thirds of the city was devastated by a half-mile wide tornado on May 22. The shelter is currently housing over 600 animals displaced by the disaster. They will be taking over for Laney MacDougall from the Center for Shelter Dogs, Amy Webb from the Boston Animal Care and Adoption Center, and Dania Tonelli from the Dedham Animal Care and Adoption Center who were deployed to Joplin on June 15.
